Belize Sailing Association hosts Sail Training Stage 2

Press Release - Belize City - February 7th 2011 - The Belize Sailing Association (BzSA) held its Stage 2 Training at the British Forces Adventure Training Centre on St George’s Caye over the weekend of 5th and 6th February. Nine persons qualified for Royal Yacht Association and BzSA certification in basic dinghy and Level 2 on the Laser Pico and three on a safety boat handling course. The sailing instruction was assisted by American Sailing Association certified Trenton Miller of Caye Caulker. The twelve persons are all involved with the Optimist Project.

There are two more courses scheduled in this series to bring BzSA and Optimist club personnel to full certification prior to the arrival in Belize of Batch 1 Optimist Dinghies scheduled for mid April.

San Pedro Cancer Society Lights the Night

It's amazing what a group of like-minded individuals can organize. The San Pedro Cancer Society, under the helm of President Monica Prevette, Treasurer Miguel Perez and a few active and enthusiastic members, held a Light The Night walk in honor of World Cancer Awareness Day on Friday, February 4th.

There was an amazing turnout, including visitors and residents who showed up in solidarity of friends, family members and victims the world over who are suffering from the disease, have triumphed over it, or sadly, lost the battle against cancer.
Children joined adults and marched through the designated route after a small prayer.
Edwin is a cancer survivor, and he marched proudly with his family.
The town of San Pedro lost a dearly beloved member, Miss Kim Reyes to Kidney cancer in late 2010, and her family walked in memory of her.

Mr. Ramirez also walked in memory of a loved one...

Whatever the reason people joined the walk, there was definitely an air of solidarity.
After the walk, a moment of silence was held in memory of those who've lost the battle against cancer. "Supporting the fighters, admiring the survivors, honoring the taken, and never EVER giving up. Where strangers become friends...battling cancer...side by side."

The San Pedro Cancer Society invites you to it's fundraiser!!

Everyone is invited to swing by the San Pedro Lions' Den today Sunday for the all-day fundraiser being held by the San Pedro Cancer Society. Funds are being raised to help cancer victims that are currently undergoing treatment. Food and drinks are on sale...$5 Rice and Beans, cupcakes, other pastries, good music and of course - all for a good cause...

Be sure to pick up informative literature as well...sit in and dine, or pick up your lunch/evening meal to go...

An Old Mans’ Wisdom

“We are all just cupids in disguise”

He was old beyond his years, slightly bent over shuffling in a two step hustle, almost bumping into me. “Excuse me!” I said. Ha! He snapped back with a wiry smile. We caught each other’s gaze. Kind eyes bore through me. “The answer is all inside yourself; he said to me, I want you to listen carefully.” I knew he probably was right.

Smiling he continued. “Never fall from love. There is only one love, one heart with currents running through all there is. This is it the one loving relationship. This love is to higher self, the divine, nature, God, etc. called by many names throughout this world. People things will come and go, but this love remains. It’s up to you to hold on to it. When you know this love all others fall in to harmony. This love will never leave you. This is everlasting unconditional True love. Love never fails. No one can take it from you.” He shuffled to the side ambling away down the street and disappeared into the crowd the city sounds closed in swallowing him.

We see people every day and we don’t know what’s inside them, strangers walk past us and we live in ignorance of the wisdom within them. But if we open our hearts and listen teaching is always going on. Like love when you really know it you are never out of touch with the Only One Love. When your lost and you look you will find it, time after time..
