The Torch of which symbolizes 'unity' will make its way to La Isla on November 30th, 2008. The general public is invited to 'run' with us as we strive to strenghten the awareness of HIV/Aids and Gender based violence. There will be a 'fair' held after the run where free HIV testing will be done as well as information disbursed. Remember 'silence has a price'! Win-Belize is a 'not for profit' organization and we have incurred some expenses to carry out this endeavor, please help us! Call 226-2070 to donate water and fruits for the participants!

BTB branch office for San Pedro a reality!

The dream of San Pedro having its own BTB (Belize Tourism Board) branch, a dream envisioned by the Board of Directors and Minister of Tourism Manuel Heredia Jr has finally become a reality when on Wednesday morning the office was officially inaugurated and open to the public. Gone are the days when trips must be made to the mainland for tourism queries and this occasion was yet another milestone for the Belize Tourism Board as they strive to improve and support the needs of the Tourism industry, especially in San Pedro.
On hand for the official ceremony was Tourism Chairman Gach Guerrero, Mayor of San Pedro Elsa Paz, Honorable Manuel Heredia Jr, President of the BTB Tracy Panton and Board members Einer Gomez, Elito Arceo, just to name a few

The BTB San Pedro branch will house the office of the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Honorable Manuel Heredia Jr. The office administrative manager is Amy Leiva whilst Marleni Bradley has been assigned the position of cashier. Opening hours of the office are from Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5pm.

Barack Obama elected President of USA!

The people of the United States have spoken and on Tuesday night history was made! Democrat Barack Obama has won the 2008 U.S. presidential election, setting him up to become the 44th president of the United States and the first African-American to hold the nation's highest office.
Barack Obama is the President elect and will be sworn in on Jan 20th as 44th President of USA

Ecstatic voters rejoice after the annoucement was made.

SPTC donates 'treats' to Holy Cross

Holy Cross Anglican School received a generous donation of biscuits from the Town of San Pedro on Tuesday, November 4th. Mayoress Elsa Paz and members of the Town Board Administrative Staff personally delivered the goodies. The biscuits will be given to the students this week. Thank you Mayoress Paz and the Town of San Pedro!!!

Dolphins season ends! Llagulei advances

Dangriga's Ilagulei defeated the San Pedro Dolphins with an emphatic 3-2 victory inside the Ambergris Stadium on Sunday and took the wind of the the dolphins sail to advance in the next round of football action. It was a 'win or go home' game for the home team as they were down 1 in the best of two games of the quarter finals series. NOw that the Dolphins season has abruptly ended, their rivals Ilagulei will go on to play in the semi-final round. We'll have more stats in this weeks issue of The San Pedro Sun, keep it locked!
