Hotels and Condominiums on Ambergris allow tourist to visit the reef on Kayaks and Hobie Cats for snorkeling experiences. When the tourist arrive at the reef they want to get out of the kayak or hobie cat and snorkel, without a mooring to tie to they are tempted to tie to the corals or drop anchor on the reef. The Mooring Buoys provide an alternative less detrimental to the reef.

Emeliano Rivero, Samuel Lin and Juan Carlos Montejo pictured above installed new and repaired old buoys at the reef in front of Las Terrazas and Journeys End Resorts. Juan Carlos said,” The season is starting and the tourists are coming, we need to protect our reef.”

First we get our comfortable footgear and head to the waiting area where we are all introduced to the managers of Cave Branch Outpost and Canopy Café. A small trek along the green thick rainforest brings us to the new zip lining area. Even though under construction, it is plain to see that the coming attraction will be exhilarating. High above us workers are setting up platforms on trees, thick cables run through the canopy of trees, and you can almost expect Tarzan to come sailing out of the treetops. But, our actual plan for the day is cave tubing through some of the most mysterious and historic cave systems in Belize.

San Pedro Dolphins win second game; Islanders qualify for second round

In the Belize Premier Football League, the San Pedro Dolphins won their second game in a row. On Sunday, the Dolphins travelled south to face Wagiya at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga Town. The San Pedro Dolphins marched determine on the field but as early as 30 minutes in the first half, Wasani Ramirez shelled the visiting Dolphins, forcing them into them to react. 13 minutes later, at 43 minutes of the regular time, the Dolphins capitalized on a keeper error and Tonbra Akpobador returned hopes to the visiting team.

Turing into the second half, at minute 60 of regular time, Cleon Henry was expel from the game after he received a second yellow card in the game. But the San Pedro Dolphins continue to pressure and in 68 minutes was kicked down in the 18 yards box. The referee blew a penalty kick in favor of the visiting Dolphins. An eager Landy Pinelo kicked the penalty and to the dismay of the team, he missed after the ball ended to the far right side of the goal. With only 12 minutes to go the Dolphins finally got their opportunity. In minute 78, Jacinto Pinelo capitalized on a kick with goal range giving the Dolphins a two to one lead in the game. Despite the expulsion of one of their players and having missed a penalty, the Dolphins pulled off a big “W” against the home team of Wagiya. Final score: Wagiya 1, San Pedro Dolphins 2.

Dolphin will face the Belize Defense Force in two weeks time.

In the Belize Bank Super League San Pedro Islanders got a 3-zip default win from Cayo South. The Cayo team was a no show and with that win, the Islanders qualify into the second round. The Islander will travel south where they will face Valley Renaissance on Saturday evening.

Breaking News: Shyne to be deported to Belize

Rapper Shyne has been sitting in jail, despite being set for release after serving nine years of a 10-year jail sentence for a 2001 New York nightclub shooting.
His release was put on hold, while officials determined whether or not the 30-year-old rapper (real name: Jamal Barrow) should be deported back to his native country Belize.
This week, New York radio personality, Miss Info, reports that officials have decided that Shyne will be deported.

According to her report, Shyne's team is fighting for him to stay in the U.S., where both his mother and grandmother live and raised him, but it's not going to happen.
Shyne, however, plans to continue his fight from Belize, and is urging fans to reach out to New York Governor David Paterson's office to petition for his pardon.

"Shyne is one of the strongest people I know and he's handling this situation just as I'd expect him to," Hot 97's Angie Martinez told Miss Info. "It must be frustrating for all of his friends and family; he served his time, and keeps getting all these different dates and conflicting information. But he's a soldier, he's dealing with it."

At least 22 dead as trains collide in India

NEW DELHI, India (CNN) -- A train collision in northern India killed at least 22 people early Wednesday. Railway officials confirmed the deaths and also said people were 26 injured in the crash.
The Goa Express slammed into the stationary Mewar Express apparently because the driver overshot a signal to stop, said Anant Swaroop, spokesman for India's northern railway.

Indian Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered an inquiry into the crash, according to CNN's sister station in India, CNN-IBN.

The Goa Express, bound for New Delhi from the western coastal state of Goa, was running on the same track as the Mewar, which shuttles between New Delhi and Udaipur, in western Rajasthan state. Both trains have stops in Mathura, about 90 miles south of New Delhi.

Rescuers had to cut trapped passengers from a wrecked car of the Mewar Express. The car had a special compartment for women, disabled passengers, cargo and train guards, said Aditya Verma, a senior police official in Mathura.

Bannerjee said victims' relatives would receive compensation of about $10,000, according to CNN-IBN. Several other trains that go through the Mathura station had to be diverted. Trains are the most widely used mode of transportation for national travel in India.
