Members of the San Pedro Town community conducted a peaceful protest through the principal streets of the island. The protest started at 9:00 a.m. from the Central Park today and then movee through the main streets of San Pedro culminating at the Central Park. The purpose of the protest was to publicly reject the Public Utilities Commission’s (PUC) initial approval of 10.6% increase in water rate for the Belize Water Service Limited. A letter was circulated during the protest and signatures were collected. This will now be forwarded to the PUC before December 2nd, 2009.
