Show your support to San Pedro Resident, Guadalupe "Lupe" Couch

Lifetime San Pedro Resident and mother, Mrs. Guadalupe Couch aka Lupe; recently suffered from kidney failure. She is in dire need of dialysis treatment twice per week and/or a Kidney Transplant.

The family is preparing from what more than likely will be a very costly battle to assist Mrs. Lupe. In an effort to assist the family, the Reef Radio will be hosting an all radiothon on Thursday April 14th. Occurring simultaneously with the radiothon will be a lunch Bar-B-Q sale as well as a dollar drive. The family is looking for any assistance that could be afforded. Please note that no donation is too small.

Karaoke 2010 continues!!!!

Karaoke 2010 continues at the Jaguar’s Night Club. On Thursday August 26th Noe Gastum, Mario Leal, Roberta Novelo, Ricardo Batun, Lizette Gutierrez and Diana Rodriguez took to the microphone to battle it out at the Jaguars Temple Club. The judges for the night were Carlos Perez, Geovanni Marin and Alejandro Mejia. At the end of the night Diana Rodriguez came out victorious as the Judges pick and Lizette Gutierrez advanced by the audience. The finals are scheduled to be held on the 16th of September. “Battle of the Champions” is the next event set to commence shortly after Karaoke 2010 concludes. Details of this competition will be posted as more information become available.

Reef Radio Jaguar's Temple Karaoke 2010 Competition begins!!!!!

Last night at the Jaguar's Temple nightclub, saw the commencement of Karaoke 2010 in San pedro. Taking the stage were Javier Castillo, Ramon Flores, Israel Zetina, Mark Elliot, Celia De Pinto and Jeol Andino. Some contestants were repeat contestants and some first timers. The crowd was well entertained. At the end of the night, two finalists moved on to the fnals - Audience Favorite - Javier Castillo and Judges' Pic - Joel Andino!

Raising funds for Baby Daniel

Live on the Reef Radio are grandparents Mel Spain and Daniel Guerrero along with Patty Arceo working the airwaves in an effort to raise money for her grandson, Daniel Jr.
Baby Daniel is 4 months old and has been diagnosed with Biliary atresia, a rare life threatening liver disease. Baby Daniel needs medical assistance immediately in the USA to get the treatment he needs.

A fundraising event for Baby Daniel will take place on March 21st at the San Pedro Lions Den. More information will be released this afternoon.

Update: At final count, a total of $32,269.00 had been pledged.

Happy 10th Anniversary Castillo's Hardware

Castillo's Do It Best Hardware celebrated 10 years of excellent service today. For its tenth birthday, Castillo's held a grand raffle of 10 $1,000 prizes, totaling $10,000.
Ten lucky winners' names were drawn from the barrel - and they are as follows:

Josh Reyes, Faith Noelle, Hilberto Lopez, Luis Gillett, David Marin, Mandy Castillo, Ramon Contreras, Miguel Wilson, Connie Haddad and Carlos Utreva.

5th Annual Reef Radio Karaoke kicks off!

Reef Radio, in conjunction with Jaguar's Temple Night Club has begun their annual Karaoke competition, with the first round held last night, Thursday, August 13th. The 5 rounds of singing will culminate on September 17th.

The six contestants were: Roberta Novelo, Ramon Flores, Moises Tzul, LeRoi Hyde, Helda Santos and Mavis Usher.
Hosts for the evening, David "DJ Habo" Marin and Luis "DJ Flex" Romero.
Mavis Usher was the top choice for round one.
Crowd favorite, Helda Santos also makes it through the first round.

Other perform
As Monday, internet voting will start for the remaining contestants. All contestants who don't make the cut in the five rounds will be placed online and whoever wins the votes will be the 11th contestant (wild card) for the finals on September 17th.

Government Public Consultation

The meeting was scheduled for yesterday night at 6:00 p.m. At that time, there was only one individual at the assigned meeting place of the San Pedro Lions Den. By 7:30 p.m. 10 people were in attendance to hear the Government's position on the Constitutional Amendements which they are proposing. The rain fell and would not subside and the Government party decided to instead have the public consultation during the Good Morning San Pedro Show at the Reef Radio.

The consultation highlighted many changes which are to be made to the Constitutions Sixth Amendement Bill. As explained by Honorable Ramon Wittz and Honorable John Saldivar both of the Constitution and Foreign Affairs Committee. Present from the Solicitor General's office was Randine Twist.
AN ACT to amend the Belize Constitution, Chapter 4 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2000-2003 are as follows:
*to provide for the vesting of all property rights in petroleum and minerals in the Government and people of Belize
*to prescribe a three-term limit for holders of the office of the Prime Minister
*to provide for the recall of elected representatives before the expiry of their normal term of office
*to enlarge the membership of the Senate to ensure that the Senators nominated by the Opposition and non-governmental organizations together constitute the majority
*to extend the powers and functions of the Senate and to enable the Senate to initiate and conduct public inquiries into mismanagement or corruption by persons in the central government or public statutory bodies
*to include the Belize National Coast Guard Service in the definition of ‘security services’ and to make consequential provisions
*to reconstitute the Judicial and Legal Services Commission to conform with the position in other Commonwealth jurisdictions
*to provide for the expeditious submission of reports by the Auditor General to the National Assembly and
*to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Copies of the bill may be picked up at the offices of the San Pedro Town Council or the National Assembly. Other such consultations have been held in Punta Gorda, Corozal, Orange Walk and San Ignacio with Belize City and Belmopan to follow.
