Meet Miss Panama: Marielena Gonzalez Peña for Costa Maya 2011

Marielena González Peña is Panama's representative, vying for the title of Reina de la Costa Maya 2011. Marielena is 22 years old, she is 5’5″ and her measurements are 36-25-35.

Marielena was born on September 12, 1988 in Havana Cuba, to a Cuban mother and Panamanian father. At 3 months, her family moved her to Panama City, along with her brother, father and mother.

She is a model and lawyer, two things she wanted to be from a very young age. Her modeling career began when she was only 15 years old and her first appearance was in 2004 for magazine, Ellas Teen for Felix B. Maduro. She’s also made commercials for Bellsouth, photography for Medcom, Samsung, Aurosport, and participated in the music video of national artist, Nigga (Dj Flex) in the song Sin Tu Amor.

In 2005, she won the titles of Miss Photogenic, Best Silhouette and Miss internet in the Miss Teen Panama 2006 Pageant. She also participated in the event, Estrelas del Alma, organized by Prestige Models. She took a modeling course from this agency and received the prize of best Runway Model in her graduation during the FashionExpo Show.

She is pursuing her degree in Law and Political Science from the Universidad Santa María la Antigua. In 2008 she obtained her broadcaster’s license from Autoridad Nacional de los Servicios Públicos.

In 2008, she joined the agency Physical Modelos. They helped her achieve her goals as a model and has appeared in Ad Campaigns for Digicel Carnavales, made the first editorial of the magazine Mia de la Estrella from Pamana and has appeared in T.V. commercials for Almacenes el Costo, Revista Mia, Cable Onda and Metromall verano 2011. She has also modeled for events like MacroFest & Fashion Week Panamá.

In 2009, she participated in Bellezas Panamá and received the prizes for Best Hair Style and Best Silhouette.

She was First Runner-Up in the most important pageant in her country, Miss Panama 2011. She represented La Provincia de Bocas del Toro.

She enjoys living her life one day at a time, enjoying each moment. She is always willing to help others and is part of the Asociación de Cubanos Residentes en Panamá and is the person in charge of the activities for the youths for this organization. She collaborated in the movement for the Juventud de Ogobsucun, a community in Kuna Yala that helps, feeds, educates and defends the rights of children. MORE

Meet Miss El Salvador - Andrea Bazant Sol

The Costa Maya Festival Committee is proud to present the Miss El Salvador contestant for Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant 2011. She is 20 year-old Andrea Bazant Sol from San Salvador, El Salvador.


Andrea is a student at the Monica Herra School of Communication, and she also speaks fluently in Spanish, English and French. Her hobbies include photography, Arabic dancing, design and art.
On August 5, 2011, she will join contestants from Belize, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama and Costa Rica at the Miss Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant.

Marisela confirmed for Costa Maya 2011!!

The Costa Maya Festival Committee is very excited to announce that this year's international entertainer will be Marisela.


(From Wikipedia) Marisela is a Mexican-American singer who was born in Los Angeles, California on April 24, 1966. Known as the 'Latin Madonna', Marisela recorded her first album at the age of 15 in 1984. She continues to release albums into the 21st century.

Marisela is one of the artists that will always remain a favorite in the hearts of her audience. Now in the heart of a new generation to come that is through their ancestors listening to her songs and becoming fans of her all over again. She is now known as "La Dama de Hierro."

Some of her hits that you might know include: Vete de Mi, Partir de Hoy, Yo No Te Quiero, Tu Dama De Hierro, Porque Tengo Ganas, Quisiera Detener El Tiempo, A Escondidas, Hazme Tuya, Arrepentida, Si Alguna Vez, (Sienteme, Amame, Quiereme), Asi De Facil, Enamorada Y Herida, Mi Problema, Completamente Tuya, Sola Con Mi Soledad, A Cambio De Que, La Pareja Ideal, El Chico Aquel, Sin El and Vete Con Ella among others.
The San Pedro International Costa Maya Festival has officially announced its festival dates for 2011. The largest festival in Belize has been confirmed to run from August 4 - 7, 2011.

This year marks the Costa Maya Festival's 20th Anniversary! As such, there are some changes to its festival night schedule.

Costa Maya Presents: Miss Honduras!!

This week, we present to you the final contestant for the International Reina de la Costa Maya pageant. Nicole Yaret Hawit is a 22-year-old, Honduran beauty who stands at 5’5”, measuring 34”-25”-34”. This brown eyed brunette holds a Bachelor’s in Tourism and enjoys exercising as a hobby.
Nicole is the last of the eight beauties who will grace the Costa Maya stage in San Pedro. The panel is complete; we have met delegates from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Mexico, Panama and now, Honduras. At the end of the night, only one will be crowned by 2009-2010 Reina de la Costa Maya Maritza Rivas. Who will be our new beauty representative? You just have to be there for the grand moment when hostess Sandra Hoyos announces the winner!
Be on the lookout for the lovely ladies as they start arriving on the island on Friday, July 30th. For an even better chance to get to know the beauties, swing by the San Pedro Lions Club for Noche San Pedrana. For a mere $30, you can join the ladies at the club starting at 7:00pm on July 31st. Enjoy music, dinner and dancing into the night.

Costa Maya Festival Presents: Miss Guatemala!


With only a few weeks left before Costa Maya 2010 is here, we present to you 25-year-old Gabriela Asturias. The beautiful Guatemalan representative is a Social Communicator who stands at 5’ 5", measures 34-24-35, has dark brown-eyes and hair. Gabriela enjoys dancing and reading, and is looking forward to representing her beautiful country at this year’s Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant.



Gabriela will be joined on the Costa Maya stage in San Pedro by delegates from Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Panama. At the end of the night, only one will be crowned by outgoing Reina de la Costa Maya Maritza Rivas, of Nicaragua. Who will be our new beauty representative? You just have to be there for the grand moment!

Belize's own Berne Velasquez opens for Angel y Khriz

Also lined up for entertainment is Belize's own Berne Velasquez. This Belizean musician, model and entertainer will be on stage Saturday night, August 7, bringing the hype and melodies before International artists Angel y Khriz come on stage.

Berne's music combines rap and reggae, a collaboration has captured the attention of Hip-Hop as well as pop music aficionados world wide. Musically influenced by pop icons Bob Marley, Tupac, and Stevie Wonder, Berne has had the fortune to perform on stage with Reggae and Dancehall greats, including Beenie Man, Sean Paul, and Shaggy. And he will be on La Isla Bonita to bring his music to those in attendance.

Sunday's family day will contain some fun and giggles for the children as Ozzy and Chispin will be on hand to keep everyone entertained. These two clowns will be at the fair grounds on Sunday, August 8.

Costa Maya Presents: Miss Costa Rica!!

Krysia Ortiz Campos is the second confirmed participant in this year’s Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant. The 24-year-old brown-eyed architect stands at 5’7" and measures 34-24-36. She enjoys singing, dancing and being with family. She dreams of starting her own firm, wherein she can apply herself to Architecture and Urban Design that is socially conscious. She also dedicates her time at a center that reaches out to troubled youths who struggle with alcoholism and drugs. She is ultimately pleased to represent her country, humbled at the opportunity to bring to light her beloved country Costa Rica.

Krysia will be joined onstage on August 5th, 2010 by delegates from Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama. One of them will be walking away with the crown currently held by Nicaragua’s beautiful Maritza Rivas.
