33rd Lions' Board of Directors (BOD) Installation

Seven members were sworn in and made part of the club.

On a splendid Saturday evening, Lionism was supreme as Lion members, friends, and family convened at the Lion's Den to celebrate and install the new Board of Directors for fiscal year 2008 - 2009. Senator Eiden Salazar took to honor of leading the Lion's club for the year 2008-2009 as Lion's President. During this opportunity, Lions also installed eight new members to its club. After they swore to keep the oath and accepted the terms set forth, the new Lions were were officially included as part of the Lion's Club. After the formalities, a scrumptious turkey dinner was served by the delightful staff at the Belize Bank. The night was enjoyed by all who attended, be sure to get a copy of Thursday's paper for more details and pictures.

Miss Nita Marin was the godmother for Bernadette in the installation.

Cadavers found at abandoned MUAB

Interview with Foreman of the San Pedro Town Council Samuel Gonzalez Jr.

Six cadavers were found abandoned at the old Medical University of the Americas Belize compound. The cadavers were used for education purposes but when the building was seized on November of last year, the cadavers were never properly disposed of.

San Pedro Town Council employees made the discovery after Tim Jeffers, owner of the building, donated desks and school equipment to the Council's soon-to-come Vocational School. Little did they know that upon opening one of the classrooms six cadavers would be found, one in a box and the other five were discovered on the examination tables.

The San Pedro Town Council and the San Pedro Police Department plan on burying the cadavers as soon as possible.

Music, food and beverages were prevalent during Crazy Canuck's Beach Barbeque on Saturday afternoon and evening.

Victim shot during robbery

The scooter Dilia was riding remained on the road. Fuel permeated the air as it leaked out of the scooter.
Last night at approximately 10:45 p.m., Dilia Teraza, 46, owner of Topaz Jewelry in Pescador Drive was riding to her home located on Angel Coral Street, next to Sun Up Restaurant.

Dilia owns Topaz Jewelry on Pescador Drive.

While she rode her scooter alone, her husband was traveling infront of her on the couple's golf cart along with an eight-year-old child. Upon reaching close to home, on the corner of Angel Coral and Pelican Street, a taxi cab was reversing and this made her slow down. Once she slowed down, two men jumped on her and demanded the knapsack that she was carrying. The men are described as being of brown skinned desent. A struggle ensued between Dilia and the culprits and one shot was fired. The single gunshot hit Dilia under her arm on the left chest area. The culprits ran off with her knapsack and made their way towards the lagoon where it is alleged that a getaway boat was waiting for them. Police officers process the crime scene.

Dilia was transported to the San Pedro Polyclinic where her condition was described as stable but she was later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where she remains under treatment.

No suspects have been identified and as such no arrests have been made. Police investigation continues. Police allege that the knapsack contained an undisclosed amount of jewelry and Dilia's licensed firearm.
