Fire in San Pedro

Two homes lost to blaze
Around 3:15 p.m., The San Pedro Sun Newspaper received a call that a fire was under way in the Backatown area of San Pedro. Two wooden structures housed in one lot, one of them belonging to long-standing Lion member Gonzalo "Reds" Lara, were completely engulfed in flames.
A large cloud of smoke billows over the lagoon...
Spectators gather round the fire, where firemen attempt to douse the flames.
A six-month old baby was rescued from the building, and was rushed to the San Pedro PolyClinic. The baby is being tended to by Dr. Javier Zuniga, who explained that although being treated for third degree burns, the baby is in stable condition.

More details will be posted as they become available.

Always bringing the news. I like that. Plus I saw your video footage on both Channel 7 and Channel 5. You should be hitting the national newspaper mainstream soon! Keep up the good work.

I am deeply saddened by this. One of the Lara children spent time in Indiana with my family and my heart aches for them.

It is great that the community is supporting and helping their own in this tragady. A great example of the Belizian community and why we love it there so much. Hope the fund raiser goes well and wish we could have gotten there in time to participate in it.
