Mr. Belize 2010

Every year, body builders from across the country vigorously train to compete in Belize’s annual Body Building Competition. This year is no different, and two San Pedro resident body builders, Edwin Ramirez and Cindy Ayala were slated to make an appearance in this year’s competition.
Edwin Ramirez was up for the Mr. Belize body building title. He previously held the title in 2008, and lost it to Mr. Dion Danderson in 2009. This year, he once again laid claim to the title when he was named Mr. Belize 2010.
Edwin informed The San Pedro Sun that he has been lifting weight since he was 19 years old, and was introduced to the sport by long time friend Mr. Andrew Godoy. Edwin fell in love with the sport and started competing professionally in the year 2000. Since then, he has had the opportunity to represent Belize in several Central American Games, the last of which was held in El Salvador, where he placed 2nd in the Body Building Competition in 2008. Apart from this, Edwin holds 3 gold medals, 3 silver and 1 bronze, medals he gained through competition in the Central American Games through the years 2000 to 2005.
This year there were no other female "competitors", and as a result Cindy joined the other ladies in a body building exhibition. She hopes that her participation will have inspired ladies in the country to step up to the plate and compete in next year’s competition.
Edwin also takes this opportunity to thank Marina’s Store, Brad’s Boledo, Roberto Castillo from Castle Carts, Captain Morgan’s and of course the San Pedro Fitness Center for their generous sponsorship.
