Meet Miss El Salvador - Andrea Bazant Sol

The Costa Maya Festival Committee is proud to present the Miss El Salvador contestant for Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant 2011. She is 20 year-old Andrea Bazant Sol from San Salvador, El Salvador.

Andrea is a student at the Monica Herra School of Communication, and she also speaks fluently in Spanish, English and French. Her hobbies include photography, Arabic dancing, design and art.
On August 5, 2011, she will join contestants from Belize, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama and Costa Rica at the Miss Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant.

Marisela confirmed for Costa Maya 2011!!

The Costa Maya Festival Committee is very excited to announce that this year's international entertainer will be Marisela.

(From Wikipedia) Marisela is a Mexican-American singer who was born in Los Angeles, California on April 24, 1966. Known as the 'Latin Madonna', Marisela recorded her first album at the age of 15 in 1984. She continues to release albums into the 21st century.

Marisela is one of the artists that will always remain a favorite in the hearts of her audience. Now in the heart of a new generation to come that is through their ancestors listening to her songs and becoming fans of her all over again. She is now known as "La Dama de Hierro."

Some of her hits that you might know include: Vete de Mi, Partir de Hoy, Yo No Te Quiero, Tu Dama De Hierro, Porque Tengo Ganas, Quisiera Detener El Tiempo, A Escondidas, Hazme Tuya, Arrepentida, Si Alguna Vez, (Sienteme, Amame, Quiereme), Asi De Facil, Enamorada Y Herida, Mi Problema, Completamente Tuya, Sola Con Mi Soledad, A Cambio De Que, La Pareja Ideal, El Chico Aquel, Sin El and Vete Con Ella among others.

The San Pedro International Costa Maya Festival has officially announced its festival dates for 2011. The largest festival in Belize has been confirmed to run from August 4 - 7, 2011.

This year marks the Costa Maya Festival's 20th Anniversary! As such, there are some changes to its festival night schedule.

Miss Chiquitita pageant fundraiser brings the entertainment

The night was cool, but inside the Saca Chispas football field, things were heating up amongst the audience as groups of supporters cheered on their favorite contestant at the 2011-2012 Miss Chiquitita pageant. Seven beautiful young ladies ranging from the ages of four through eight were vying for a title as part of fundraising efforts for San Pedro Pre-School.

Set up as a proper pageant, with an opening dance number, swimwear, talent and evening gown segments, Miss Chiquitita was about presentation, poise and confidence. Judges Ceci Lara, Horacio “Chito” Guerrero, Miss San Pedro Natasha Stuart, Jessie Leslie and Samalia Vernon deliberated long and hard throughout the competition. They had to award points for poise, presentation, talent, and stage presence. Each young lady did very well, giving their best with the knowledge that only one would be crowned a winner – so for the judges, their work was certainly cut out for them.

The crowd grew more and more enthusiastic as the night wore on. Supporters chanted their favorite’s name, throwing confetti, balloons and blowing horns as their favorite girls showed up for the last time onstage in their evening gowns. Yanni Ayala (7), Elsie Belisle (6), Nathalie Bolzle (6), Gabriella Knox-Alexander (7), Nathalie Mejia (6), Noely Wiltshire (6) and Gidelie Rivero (8) proudly sashayed in their beautiful ball gowns, twinkling and smiling for the crowd. After a final walk through, they stood before the crowd waiting for the results of the pageant.

The first prize announced was Miss Congeniality, and that honor went to Miss Nathalie Bolzle, who was very excited and happy as she received her sash. Miss Photogenic was Miss Gidelie Rivero, and she also swept up the place of first runner up. Everyone held their breath in anticipation, as former Miss San Pedro (and mistress of ceremonies) Raquel Badillo kept the suspense going. Finally, she leaned over and gave a quick kiss to Miss Gabriella Knox-Alexander, San Pedro’s newest little beauty ambassador, Miss Chiquitita 2011-2012!

Congratulations to Gabriella Knox-Alexander, Miss Chiquitita 2011-2012!!

A very beautiful and composed Gabby Knox-Alexander was crowned tonight as the new Miss Chiquitita. Gabby was chosen as the winner amongst 7 contestants vying for the title of Miss Chiquitita 2011-2012. The pageant is held as a fundraiser to help San Pedro Pre-School with their operational expenses.

Miriam Rodriguez Ms. SPHS Queen 2011/12

Angel Nuñez auditorium was packed to capacity with hundreds of excited and energetic onlookers as the San Pedro High School annual pageant came to a start. Initially scheduled to start at 6:30pm, due to technical difficulties, the pageant did not get to a start until around 8:00pm. An agitated crowd was soon calmed, and jubilant as the first act started off with a dance presentation and an introduction of the beauties. Beachwear, cultural talent evening wear, question and answer segments followed.

At the end of the night, the winners were announced as follows; the new Miss San Pedro High for the year 2011 – 2012 is Ms Miriam Rodriguez; first runner up was Ms Alexis Del Valle; second runner went to Vivienne Forman and Ms Josie Lopez took the place of the third runner up. Miss Popularity was taken by Lina Mazariegos with just about 2000 votes. Ms Photogenic went to Ms Alexis Delvalle. Outgoing queen, Ms Solanie Graniel was on hand to give the crown. All the contestants performed exceptionally and at the end of the night, a great time was had by all.
