Controversy at The Next Miss Belize Fashion Show

Controversy reigned at the Queen of the Jewel fashion show dubbed the Royal Parade this past Saturday when the final results were called out. The fashion show began nearly two hours (9:30pm) after its scheduled start-time (7:30pm). No explanation was given for the late start; however, the show itself was a sight to behold. Despite poor attendance, mostly blamed for lack of promotion on the part of the organizers, those that remained in the audience were ready for a fabulous show.

The beautiful delegates vying for the title of Miss Belize showcased the fun and fabulous designs of RH Creations. The colorful prints evoked a feeling of the tropics, and the general consensus was that those present (at least the ladies) could see themselves in at least two of the designs each. The showing was a success, and RH Creations certainly proved a hit. During the catwalk, the ladies were being judged for poise and presentation. At the end of the night, one winner was to be declared Best Model. Before announcing the winner, sashes were handed out to each girl - with some confusion as it seemed that the ladies hadn't been properly identified. A search on the website and Facebook pages of The Next Miss Belize brought up no proper identification of each girl.

In the end, the results were announced and it was a tie between San Pedro's Scarleth Delgado and Belmopan's Krista Cruz. However, the controversy erupted when the winner's sash and tiara were placed on Scarleth. Scarleth took her winner's walk down the runway, and Krista followed. That was when the audience realized a mistake had been made - apparently some had not heard the announcement of a tie, and the celebratory mood turned to boos. The ladies remained on stage, and their poise never faltered despite the controversy. For that, they must be congratulated.

The final show for The Next Miss Belize will be on November 27th, 2010 at the Bliss Center in Belize City. Many islanders are planning on attending to show support to their two representatives, Anna Haylock and Scarleth Delgado. It is the sincere hope of everyone that the organization will have worked out its technical issues and the pageant itself goes smoothly.

Stephanie Arce is Miss Caye Caulker Lobster Fest 2010

With tropical depression - later to be named "Tropical Storm Alex" brewing in the Caribbean, residents of Caye Caulker had the opportunity to distract their minds as five beauties took to the stage to compete for the coveted title of Miss Lobster Fest 2010.

The evening was filled with colorful gowns, themed outfits and the five beauties wowing the crowd with their various unique talents. Along with the pageant contestants, the crowd was entertained during intermissions by Belize City's New Generation Dance Company - with their exquisite cultural, contemporary and modern dance performances.

At the end of the competition, Miss. Stephanie Arce was called to center stage to receive her crown as Miss Caye Caulker Lobster Fest 2010-2011.

Letty Lara Fashion Show - Fun!!

Letty Lara hosted a fashion show at Fido's Courtyard on Wednesday night (November 4). Lovely young ladies paraded the island fashions down the runway, much to the delight of those in attendance. The funds raised will go towards Letty's upcoming trip to South Africa as Belize's delegate to the Miss World Pageant. We wish Letty the best of luck in her endeavor!

Miss Honduras for Costa Maya

She is Ruth Maria Arita Luna, a 23 year old beauty who proudly represents her beautiful Honduras. Standing at 5'7", she was a representative at Miss Earth in 2005.
A student of public relations and a professional model, Ruth is eager to take part in this year’s Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant since her biggest dream is to win a crown for her native home. A self described perfectionist, Ruth states she likes to correct things and have everything “just right.” Confident and charismatic, Ruth has prepared in advance for the night’s events and believes that her uniqueness can captivate the judges.

Caye Caulker Lobsterfest Pageant

Caye Caulker’s Lobsterfest is on its way and a big highlight of the festivities is the Miss Lobsterfest Pageant. This year the pageant will take place on June 26th but the motorcade will be held on the 24th starting at 4:00 p.m. The motorcade, with its colorful floats, are a highlight of the Pageant’s festivities. This year, five stunning young ladies vie for this year’s title Miss Lobster Fest 2009. The contestants are:

Miss Vanessa Flowers – 16 years old with hobbies such as football, swimming and dancing. Someday would like to work in the international airline industry.

Miss Lexee Marin – A 15 year old certified Scuba Diver who would like to become a marine biologist. Lexee will be the 3rd contestant from her immediate family to be a contestant in a Miss Lobsterfest Pageant.

Miss Estrella Jimenez – 18 year old student at Ocean Academy High School who sometimes uses her free time as a babysitter. Estrella inspires younger people so as not to fear anything but to go ahead and reach for their goals.

Miss Blenda Aguilar – 17 years old, her hobbies are reading, writing poems and someday she would like to work in the Fisheries Department.

Miss Adriana Magana – A vibrant 17 year old who loves to play sports and enjoys reading. Adriana aspires to someday becoming a journalist; she joins the pageant this year because she wants to encourage Caye Caulker’s young teenagers to be more active within the community.

More Costa Maya Beauties!

Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama join the roster for La Reina De La Costa Maya Beauty Pageant, 2008!

Miss Guatemala Universe 2008 will be representing her country at the International Costa Maya Festival. Miss Jennifer Chiong recently returned from the Miss Universe pageant in Vietnam and is bringing all her experience to the Reina de la Costa Maya pageant. Miss Guatemala is 25 years old and stands at 5’ 5”. Currently she is a business woman who enjoys modeling and traveling and she aspires to be the owner and manager of an international modeling agency in Guatemala.

Nicaragua’s beauty ambassador for the Costa Maya Festival 2008 is 18 year-old Karina Gordon. She is a 5’6” tall model who is both beauty and brains, as she pursues her degree in Public Contracting and Finances Management. Miss Nicaragua intends to graduate with honors especially in her finances courses. For her, an education is very important for a young woman to obtain because it opens the door for many wonderful opportunities. Miss Nicaragua enjoys reading, modeling, and spending time with family and friends.

Natalia Soledad Ruiz Alvarez is the fourth delegate to accept participation in this year’s International Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant. The 20-year-old beauty stands at six feet one inch tall and was born on March 19th, 1988 in Tuxtla, Chiapas. She is currently a student working on her Master’s in Tourism and enjoys swimming as a sport, while her hobbies include shopping, modeling and reading terror books, as well as novels. Natalia’s motto for life is, "If you want, you can," and she could. Last year, she was crowned Nuestra Belleza Chiapas 2007 but said that, according to her, her biggest body flaw is her butt, laughing while she states the comment. The body parts that she loves most about herself are her face and legs. Natalia is a down to earth young lady who loves spending time on the Internet and believes that it was the greatest invention in the 20th Century. With much charisma, glamour and beauty, Natalia plans to give the rest of the delegates "a run for their money" as she proudly represents The Land of Tequila, Mexico.

Daniella Maria Augspurg Jimenez is a 17-year-old blonde, green-eyed beauty hailing from El Salvador. She is the fifth contestant to confirm her participation for the Costa Maya Pageant. She is currently in her last year of high school, looking to further her studies and become an excellent psychiatrist. She enjoys reading, singing and kick-boxing, and is especially proud of her awards for her performance in the school choir and for her participation in science fairs. This reading buff counts Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isabel Allende and Paulo Coellho among her favorite authors. Daniella looks forward to representing her beloved El Salvador, a country she believes is truly impressive with its wealth of natural beauty and culture; a place she is so proud to call home.

For the first time since the inception of La Reina de La Costa Maya, we have a Panama delegate. Anais Solis is a 22-year-old, 5 foot, five inches tall brunette. She is currently studying Business Administration. Her hobbies are dancing and having fun. She was crowned at Miss Realmente Bella, Señorita Panama 2008, a "reality show" inspired by the hit show "America's Next Top Model" that was created to select the Panama delegate to the Miss Universe 2008 pageant.
